Curated Styles: The Secret to Stress-Free Bridal Appointments
POV: It’s Saturday at Your Bridal Boutique
It’s a typical Saturday in your bridal shop—you start off with a quick coffee run because, well, priorities…then if you’re lucky, you hold a team huddle to get everyone on the same page with today’s schedule and goals. After assigning brides, you send your stylists off to prep for their appointments, and before you know it, the first brides are walking in, and you’re in for an energy-demanding day of back-to-back appointments.
When the whole team is focused on serving brides, small details like appointment notes or tracking dresses tried-on often get pushed aside, saved for the end of the day with a quick post-it note as a placeholder. However, when the end of the day comes, not only are your stylists exhausted, but their brides start to blend together, and morning appointments seem like a light year ago. Remembering exactly why a bride passed on a certain dress can feel nearly impossible—and when those details slip, it not only lets your brides down but also makes effective follow-up harder for you as a store owner.
We get it—you’ve considered hiring extra support staff or adding a longer buffer between appointments to avoid this, but it’s not necessary. Think of Poppy as your newest, hard-working, stress-free, user-friendly, all inclusive (okay, we’ll stop there because we’re blushing) employee. Our Curated Styles feature is the solution to having a smoother day and maximizing your efficiency and accuracy. Let’s break down this feature so your Saturdays become stress-free again—and your coffee doesn’t have to be reheated three times.
Every Bride’s Favorites, All in One Place
So what exactly are Curated Styles? Think of it as a virtual closet for each bride—it tracks gowns tried-on, favorite dresses, gives you a space for quick notes, and even extends to accessories. The best part? It’s all in one place, within a bride’s customer profile, and built right in Poppy. Organization, handled.
How to Get Started With Curated Styles
- Go to a customer’s profile and select Curated Styles
- Search the name of the item you’d like to add (you can use the vendor name or your store name)
- Select the color and size of the item (optional)
- Choose your tags for that item
- Staff pick, Customer pick, Tried-On, Favorite, Purchased
- Assign a rank to that item for hierarchy list population (optional)
- Add any brief notes about that item specifically (optional)
- Click ‘Add to Curated Styles’
Scrolling through Showroom and want to assign an item to a customer profile? You can do that too, it’s the same process, just a different first approach. Once you find the item in Showroom, simply click ‘+ Add Customer’ and search for the customer. That item will now appear on their Curated Styles within their Customer Profile.
How Bridal Shops Use Curated Styles
To get the most out of our Curated Styles feature, use it before, during, and after your bridal appointments. Once you make it a part of your standard flow, you won’t look back.
Before Bridal Appointments
- Do you encourage brides to shop your website prior to their appointment and create a wishlist? Add their wishlisted dresses to their Curated Styles as Customer Picks to give your stylists a starting point!
- Do you have brides message in style numbers or names of dresses they’re excited to try-on? Whether they discovered them on your website, socials, or a designer’s website, add those dresses to their Curated Styles as Customer Picks!
- Do you send brides sneak peek pictures of dresses you think they’ll love prior to their appointment? Add those dresses to their Curated Styles with a tag of Staff Pick and a quick note saying it was a sneak peek dress!
- Do you have your stylists prep and pull dresses before a bridal appointment? Save time during the appointment by already having those dresses added into their Curated Styles!
During Bridal Appointments
- Do you have stylists jot down which dresses they are actively putting on their bride during an appointment? Ditch the sticky notes and whiteboards and upload those dresses directly into a customer’s Curated Styles!
- Pro tip: If you have enough devices, assign each stylist a device for the day and have Poppy open on each device so adding items is quick and easy!
- Do you want to know why or why not each dress was or wasn’t the one? Have stylists make a quick note when adding the item to jog their memory later. For example, “bride didn’t care for the low back on this dress, loved everything else about it, especially the boho lace pattern”.
- Pro tip: Don’t expect your stylists to have the time to add all of the details about each dress in real time, but set the expectation to jot down a few phrases that will jog their memories later when they have time for more in depth notes.
After Bridal Appointments
- Do you have a follow up flow for reaching back out to brides that didn’t purchase? Use their Curated Styles to personalize their reach out! Whether you’ve had time to look into customization or pricing options or have a special offer on their favorite gown, it’s already documented.
- Do you have different staff members working different schedules? Using Curated Styles is your way to keep everyone on the same page if a message needs to be sent or if the mother-of-the-bride calls in with a question. No scrambling to remember what they loved—it’s all saved in their profile.
- Do you encourage comeback appointments? Curated Styles ensure consistency if another stylist works with that bride thus increasing the chance of closing the sale with fewer “what did they like last time” moments.
